Proper nutrition is not only means to give your children the right food. It also means providing a balanced meal that includes a variety of foods with an average amount. It does sound difficult, but the fact is, it is easy to prepare the meals with a balanced variety of foods to our children! You should refer to the Pyramid Food Guidance.
Regular meals
The measurement servings of FGP are for day consumption, thus it is not meant for one time meal. Breakfast is the most important food of the day. It allows your child to stay active, improve concentration, alertness and memory power. Breakfast also provides energy when they wake up from sleep. In addition, lunch and dinner will provide additional energy to the body after a full day of learning and other activities. Dinner is provided to replenish the energy they need until bedtime. Regular meal will help your children sleep well. When they wake up, they are ready to begin the day freshly and energetic.
What about snacks?
Growing child cannot survive long without food. Their stomach is small and easy to feel hungry between meals. Healthy snacks can provide the necessary energy during the day and it’s tasteful. Give your child snacks such as sandwiches, cereal, biscuits, fruit, yoghurt, milk or milk malts beverages.
Let them play
While focusing on the right foods, do not forget the importance of physical activities. Encourage your children to play and exercise because exercise is as important as proper nutrition. Physical activity not only fun but also provides many benefits in many ways!
In terms of nutrition, physical activity increase food appetite and burn excess energy. In terms of health, exercise strengthens bones and muscles, improve blood circulation and allows your child to maintain a healthy weight.
